AQUAPark: The mining pleasure baths
Many details at the Aquapark remind visitors of the coal and steel tradition of the city. As such, the new water landscape next to the Oberhausen Marina is the world's first pleasure baths with coal mining ambiance! Whether it is the 18-metre-high diving tower designed as a winding tower, or the water slides up to 120 metres long, the Aquapark is definitely under the sign of the "black gold", as they used to call coal here. Even the changing facilities are fitted out in the style of miners' locker rooms, where the coal diggers used to get ready for their work shifts. There is plenty of variety available in cool, wet surroundings: there are two pools with 25-metre lanes, and a huge outdoor area of 300 square metres, which visitors reach through a replica mining tunnel. When the weather is good, the glass dome of the Aquapark can even be opened a little, a new experience even for experienced swimming enthusiasts!
