Sea Life Oberhausen
Sea Life Oberhausen opened in direct proximity to the Centr0 in the summer of 2004. Germany's biggest Sea Life aquarium with its 20, 000 creatures, two million litres of water and 4,000 sqm of exhibit space takes you on a fascinating journey into the depths of the indigenous underwater world. The journey begins at the source of the Rhine and follows the course of the water into the North Sea and beyond into the Atlantic. The different living environments on the way into the depths are replicated in the 50 tanks which have been created with no expense spared. 20, 000 marine inhabitants from over 100 species are on display ranging from shell-fish, jelly-fish and sea-horses to sharks and rays. The Tropical tank is 6 metres deep and contains one and a half million litres of water. What makes this tank especially spectactular is the glass tunnel just under 20 metres in length which goes through it.
