Siedlung Eisenheim (The Eisenheim Housing Estate)
This is one of the oldest housing schemes purpose-built for workers in the Ruhr area. Nowadays a permanent museum, run by the Industrial Museum of the Rhineland (LVR-Industriemuseum) and housed in a former communal wash house, documents impressively the life and working conditions of people who once used to live there. In addition, rows of streets, 39 houses in all, are witness to the way of life of the steelworkers at that time.
