Friedensplatz
The Friedensplatz, a town square, was laid out on an industrial site at the turn of the twentieth century. It is an important link between the market square (Altmarkt), the main railway station and the town hall - a building with elements of the Bauhaus architectural style. The square, which is one of the most beautiful examples of its kind, is bordered by buildings in the expressionist style and laid out with flower beds and water features. The whole square is dominated by the local court building erected in 1907. This was, even for the imperial Germany of that time, an impressive building.
