Woodlands
There are just over 1,400 hectares of parks, woods and other green areas in the town of Oberhausen.
One of these green areas is the mixed woodland area of Hiesfeld, a nature reserve in the southwesterly part of the "Hohe Mark" National Park. Walks along the "Rotbach" stream which winds its way through the bottom of a valley are especially charming. The Sterkrade wood is recognised as a nature reserve with its valuable old trees, marshy land and several water-filled marl-pits.
