From 26 May, the LUDWIGGALERIE Schloss Oberhausen “British photography between social criticism and identity.” Britain has had to deal with a dramatic reality not just since Brexit, but for decades: social and societal upheavals, high unemployment and political instability determine everyday life. This basic thesis is addressed in the Ludwiggalerie Schloss Oberhausen 28 British photographers from three generations.

What is special: All the photographers are united by their irrepressible desire for artistic, social and societal autonomy – independent of and autonomous from their male colleagues. The exhibition “UK Women: British photography between social criticism and identity. 28 photographic positions from the United Kingdom” is from 26 May to 15 September 2024 to be seen in Oberhausen.

The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 18 p.m. and on public holidays. Admission costs 8 euros (reduced 4 euros), families (two adults plus children) pay 12 euros. The combined ticket with the Gasometer (current exhibition: "Planet Ocean") costs 17 euros. Public tours (included in the admission price) are every Sunday and public holiday at 11.30 a.m.
