Forest in transition
Following the resounding success of "Planet Ocean," which attracted over 1,5 million visitors, the subsequent exhibition "Forest Worlds" offers an in-depth look at the forests of our planet – emotional, surprising, captivating, informative, and always scientifically sound. In various exhibition sections, the Gasometer showcases forest regions from Brazil and the Congo to Europe, focusing on the unique diversity of flora and fauna, as well as the indigenous peoples whose forest habitat is shrinking. The exhibition also documents the dramatic consequences of the destruction of this vital ecosystem through slash-and-burn agriculture, including the science-based presentation by Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute).
Der Baum
As a pioneer of media art, Ars Electronica Solutions from Austria is once again responsible for the dramatic highlight of the new exhibition. With "The Tree," visitors on the upper floor are offered a unique view from the visually designed root system up into the abstract treetop, which rises 40 meters into the sky of the Gasometer. A truly unprecedented art installation!
