Through the Ruhr metropolis!
Discover the diversity of the region and drive from Oberhausen towards Essen to the Zollverein World Heritage Site. Here you will learn a lot about the transformation of what was once the largest mine in Europe. Then you will follow in the footsteps of the Krupp family. After visiting the Margarethenhöhe settlement, you will continue towards Baldeneysee, on whose shores lies the family home of the Krupp industrial family, "Villa Hügel". Afterwards you will enjoy a boat trip on the Baldeneysee.
Alternatively, you can head west to Duisburg. Here you will discover another exciting industrial monument in the region: the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park. The highlight is the climb up the blast furnace with its magnificent view. A detour to the inner harbor - an outstanding urban development project - rounds off the tour. And if you still have time, take a boat ride through Duisburg's inner harbor.
