Life on the canal

The 100 year old Rhein-Herne-Kanal is for the people of Oberhausen “their river” – from east to west right through the city. An adventure area that attracts cycling, hiking, jogging and much more. Numerous attractions of the city such as the gasometer, Castle with the Kaisergarten or the Slinky Bridge are located directly on the canal. With the Marina between Sea Life Aquarium and Aquapark Oberhausen has created a modern, maritime ambience. The marina near the Westfield Centro has around 60 berths. Yachts with a draft of up to two and a half metres can moor here. Excursion boats can be used to sail comfortably across the canal, from Kaisergarten via the marina to the Nordsternpark in Gelsenkirchen. Otherwise, the banks of the Rhein-Herne-KanalIt invites you to take a nice bike ride or a relaxing walk.
