Friedensplatz
The Friedensplatz was built at the beginning of the 20th century on an old industrial wasteland and thus established the gradually emerging urban character in what is now the Alt-Oberhausen district. In the city center of Oberhausen, the so-called "Alte Mitte", the square is now a central connecting element of the Altmarkt, the main train station, the shopping area and the town hall.
Surrounded by elongated building arrangements in the architectural style of brick expressionism and laid out with generous flower and water segments, the Friedensplatz as one of the most beautiful places in the Ruhr metropolis. The Friedensplatz by the district court from 1907, an impressive building even for imperial Germany at that time.
