OWT presents new convention area

The OWT Oberhausener Wirtschafts- und Tourismusförderung GmbH was also represented at the world's largest travel trade fair, the ITB, from March 4 to 6. In the shadow of the Berlin radio tower, the Oberhausen tourism experts presented another business area that is expected to attract even more guests to the city: The new convention office has for the first time specifically promoted Oberhausen on a large stage as a conference and congress location for companies, associations and other organizations.

At the start of the trade fair, the two-person convention team with Eva Schlüter and Deborah Robeck presented the newly completed website www.oberhausen-convention.de with a wide range of conference options in Oberhausen. The technical and content-related heart of the site, which was created in close cooperation with the local communications agency Benning, Gluth and Partner, is a conference and location finder that is individually tailored to Oberhausen's offering. "It provides tailor-made solutions for almost every event format," says Eva Schlüter, head of the convention office. "Our offering currently includes more than twenty event locations, halls and exhibition rooms, conference hotels, seminar and conference rooms, and co-working spaces." In the next step, the online platform will be supplemented with other related services such as caterers, decoration, lighting and sound technology, stage construction, limousine service, security, or entertainment or moderation offers.

The aim of Oberhausen.Convention is to strengthen Oberhausen's importance in the lucrative MICE business. MICE is a technical term for that part of business tourism that includes the organisation and implementation of meetings, incentive and reward trips, congresses (conventions) and exhibitions or live events (exhibitions or events). The focus is primarily on supra-regional organisers and event agencies and their support - from acquisition to planning and implementation of events. After Oberhausen has already successfully positioned itself as a leisure, adventure and city trip destination, Oberhausen.Convention marks another milestone: thanks to new accommodation offers and new event partners - from Metronom-Theater about Topgolf until the soon to be completely renovated LVR-Industriemuseum – another strong pillar of the tourism industry is to be established here in close cooperation with local network partners.
