Memorial Hall Schloss Oberhausen
In a side wing of Schloss Oberhausen The memorial for those persecuted under National Socialism focuses on two main topics. The media stations document contemporary witness accounts from former forced laborers in the region and the history of the city between 1933 and 1945. For the first time in the Ruhr region, it is now possible to find out more about forced labor under National Socialism, which was present in thousands of cases in the city and region since 1939. Numerous interviews with contemporary witnesses provide a vivid picture of contemporary history. In the foyer, the commemoration in Oberhausen since 1945 is also illustrated using many examples. It documents the municipal history from the beginnings of National Socialism to its end.
