The Kaisergarten is the most beautiful and popular green area in Oberhausen. The approximately 28 hectare park on the southern bank of the Rhein-Herne-Kanals offers many leisure activities for the whole family. Within walking distance of the Gasometer and the Centro is the Kaisergarten a popular recreational destination in the geographical heart of the city for both Oberhausen residents and visitors alike. Open all year round, one of the main attractions of the Kaisergartens: The animal enclosure fits harmoniously between picturesque ponds and the last remaining oxbows of the Emscher. Specialized in the keeping of native wild animals and domestic animal breeds, guests of all ages can experience many animals up close and with all their senses. In addition to the typical inhabitants of our nature such as red deer, lynx and mouflon, there are also new immigrants such as nutria and raccoons to observe. Many of the domestic and farm animals kept have become rare and so the animal enclosure, as an “Ark Park”, endeavors to promote and preserve these breeds.

The animal enclosure in Kaisergarten is open all year round. With the start of summer time, the enclosure is open from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m. After the change to winter time, the animal enclosure is open from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m. The entrance gates close 30 minutes before the enclosure closes. Entry is free. Dogs are allowed on a leash.
Admission is free.
The income from the sale of food (€1,50 per box) and the enclosure shop supports the work of the zoological facility. If you are interested, please remember to bring the right coins for the machine.
