Zauberlehrling
Directly on the banks of the Rhein-Herne-Kanals is also the “Zauberlehrling“: The 35-meter-high and 10-ton electricity pylon sculpture by the Berlin artist collective Inges Idee “dances” on a meadow near Haus RipshorstIt was built as part of the “Emscherkunst 2013″ project, which includes various publicly accessible works of art along the Emscher and the Rhein-Herne-Kanals possible. Its curved shape simultaneously traces a human figure and is reminiscent of the summoned spirit from Goethe's "Zauberlehrling“, who evades the obedience of the apprentice… Especially in the ensemble with his “straight siblings”, the statue is now one of the most popular photo motifs in the Ruhr metropolis.
