Canal tour with a view – nature meets industrial culture

This relaxed circular tour combines some of Oberhausen's most exciting aspects – from modern leisure worlds to impressive industrial scenery and quiet nature trails. It starts at the Neue Mitte (New Center) with the first two highlights: first, the Westfield Centro and then the Gasometer Oberhausen. A short detour to the Rhein-Herne-Kanal opens up wide views of the water, before the walk continues quietly and greenly along the Emscher-Weg and the former HOAG railway line.

On the northern part of the tour is the pumping station Holten – a fantastic vantage point and a symbol of the Emscher's transformation in the midst of nature. From here, the path leads through green expanses, quiet residential areas and finally over the OLGA Park with its striking landscape architecture back to Westfield Centro.
